Have you ever wanted to visit Alaska? If you have this is a great way to find out what it’s like. There are many things to know before going. Some things to know are the climate, what to wear, things to do, and some very interesting facts about Alaska the last frontier.

First of all, you will need to bring lots of clothes and equipment. The seasons’ highs and lows in the summer 64/43˚F. In the fall it is 21/ 1˚F. Winter it is the coldest season of all only -7/-28˚F. In the spring it is 31/3˚F.You will need to bring different clothes for different seasons. In the winter you will need to bring many layers. In the summer you should bring light clothes, like T-shirts and light pants. In the spring you will need layers, but not a lot. In the fall you will want layers as well.

Next, these are some things to do. You might want to visit the Ice Art competition held ever March and February. Sculptors from around the world come to the ice park. In the kids area, kids can slide down ice slides, spin in ice baskets, run in ice mazes and tunnels, or play ice hockey. There is even a fully working telephone made out of ice! Another thing to do is visit the Sheldon Jackson museum. There you can see the Native Americans’ arts and crafts. They have dream catchers and paintings. You can see famous natives and wild animals that live there. Something else to do is visit the Kodiak Wild Life Refuge. It is an establishment to conserve the Kodiak brown bear, salmon, sea otters, sea lions, marine mammals, and migratory birds. You can watch the bears catch salmon. You can also see rivers where there is so much salmon it looks like you could walk across, but don’t try!

Finally, here are some cool facts that you don’t want to miss. Mount McKinley is the highest peak in North America. It is 20,320 ft. high. Wow, that’s high! Something else to know is in a city called Barrow, the sun stays up 24 hours on the first day of summer, and on the first day of winter it’s to lazy to rise at all. The last thing is the Moose Dropping Festival held every summer in Talkeetna, Alaska. Numbered moose droppings, that are first varnished, are dropped from hot air balloons. If you hold the number closest or farthest from the bull’s eye you win.

In conclusion, you now know things to do and cool facts about Alaska. Start packing your bags for your fun trip. Since you know what to bring, you won’t be too cold.
